The week of September 27th- October 1st marks a week-long focus on Truth and Reconciliation. Its purpose is to memorialize victims and support survivors of residential schools. Our hope is that Orange Shirt Day will not stand alone but rather be one day amongst many whereby we actively pursue new understanding of Truth so that we can Reconcile with Indigenous people. Through a variety of Indigenous writing pieces and stories, students will learn more about Indigenous cultures and have opportunities for reflection. With St FX students in class on September 30th, all students are asked to wear orange shirts with uniform bottoms in order to continue the conversation - Every Child Matters.
